Choosing a name for your baby is one of the most exciting parts of the journey to parenthood. It's a chance to give your little one an identity that will carry them through life. But as I well know myself—it's also a lot of pressure! You are striving to choose a name they'll (hopefully) love and be proud of, but that both parents also love. Whether you're looking for a name that's classic, trendy, unique, or gender-neutral, here's a guide to help you navigate the wonderful world of baby names.
Helpful Tips for Choosing a Name
1. Say it Out Loud: Make sure the name flows well with your last name and isn't a tongue-twister. Something else we personally had to check when choosing ours was that it sounded acceptable in a strong Yorkshire accent!
2. Think About Nicknames: Consider potential nicknames and whether you like them, sometimes you don't get to choose what future school friends will decide to nickname your child, unfortunately!
3. Check the Meaning: Sometimes the meaning of a name can sway your decision.
4. Consider Initials: Make sure the initials don't spell something awkward.
5. Imagine the Future: Picture your child with this name at all stages of life—from baby to adult.

Naming your baby is a personal task but can definitely be fun too. We personally kept our baby name a secret until our baby boy, Jasper Toby, was born. Partly because we weren't 100% set on it until we met him, partly because we didn't want anyone else to give their opinion or give a "look" that might make us feel uncertain!
Whether you choose a classic, modern, or unique name, the most important thing is that it feels right for you and your family, try not to let others opinions sway your decision. I hope this post has given you some ideas and thoughts for your baby naming journey!
